Departments can block access via a firewall if departments do not want automatic activation. KMS activation will not impact any existing installations and will only affect new and un-activated ones. However, ITS may contact departments to open ports or modify firewall setting if necessary. Generally, departments do not need to do anything to activate products.
Select Microsoft products are configured by default to look for this service and it should be automatic. Some site licenses apply to University departments, faculty, staff and students as a whole. Each site license has its own terms and conditions. Site licenses allow Washington State University to obtain the best possible price for these products.
